Solar Hot Water Systems Adelaide
The great thing about a Solar Hot Water System is its simplicity and durability
Using the sun to heat water isn’t a new idea. Solar energy has been used for years to heat water for homes and companies around the world. In several countries, such as Israel, solar hot water systems are actually obligatory for residential usage.
With power fees rising, solar power water heaters now pay for themselves in 4-8 years!
Naturally, one of the best reason to install a solar water heater is the positive effect to the environment – no fossil fuels or nuclear used to generate the energy to provide your home with hot water – only one hundred per cent clean energy supplied from the sun.
A solar powered hot water system, is made up of a solar power heat collector, housed in an insulated framework, one surface of which which faces the sun. The whole unit, or panel, must be positioned in an unhindered, elevated position so as to catch the maximum sunlight. Enough solar energy can still be drawn from the sun during the winter to keep your solar panel working.
The most customary heat collector, used for solar hot water systems is usually a very thin sheet of copper plating that covers the insulated base of the collector’s framework. A group of copper tubes are put on the copper plating and are connected to a small header cistern at either end of your unit. A cell may be installed on a free standing frame, or the pitch of a roof.
Water is fed from the port near the underside of the receiver into the lower reservoir of the solar power cell, and is forced through the collector tubes, where it’s heated by solar energy. The heated water is collected in the header tank at the top of the cell and subsequently piped into a port near the top of the receiver.
The solar panel is extremely effective on sunny days and will in fact produce boiling water. For that reason, a pressure release valve needs to be hooked up at the very top of your receiver, and an outlet to a gutter or drain is needed to dispense with the scalding water and steam.
Solar heating offers many benefits to home owners and the natural environment. Anyone considering updating their present water heating system, renovating or building a property ought really to consider adding one of these environmentally friendly systems.
